Professional Experience
Crystal Connor-Lane is an attorney in the Firm's Government Law & Lobbying Practice Group. Previously she served as Interim City Manager for the Village of El Portal in Miami Dade County . While at El Portal, she was responsible for a budget of approximately 2.3 million dollars and worked closely with FEMA and other agencies regarding hurricane preparedness. She also worked on annexation issues including the initial application through the negotiation process with Miami Dade County . She is experienced with matters relating to code enforcement issues, drafting and executing ordinances and other governmental policies.
Mrs. Connor-Lane has been a very active and visible player in Miami Dade County government. She served as Chief of Staff to former Miami Dade County Commissioner Jimmy Morales and worked as the Commissioner's Chief Policy and Legislative Aide. She also served as staff attorney for the Black Economic Development Corporation.
Since entering private practice, she has been assisting clients with public procurement procedures, zoning and land use changes and budget and appropriations matters in local governments. She also has experience handling matters relating to Federal Section 108 Housing loans and working with state and local governmental agencies on community relations matters relating to transportation needs. Her experience also includes assisting businesses navigate the rules regulating empowerment and enterprise zone funding and incentives. Activities & Memberships
Mrs. Connor-Lane is an alumna of the prestigious Dade Community Foundation's Miami Fellows Initiative, Class II and was selected to represent the State of Florida as a 2005 Fellow for the German Marshall Fund of the United States. In 2005 she was named one of the top 40 under 40 Most Influential Black Business Professionals in Miami Dade County by Success Magazine. Mrs. Connor-Lane is also active in the local civic community serving as a Board Member of the Miami Dade County Cultural Affairs Developing Arts in Neighborhoods Grants program, St. Alban's Child Care Enrichment Center and as a Board Member for Camillus House, she serves as Secretary and is Chairperson of the African American Out Reach Committee. Mrs. Connor-Lane served as a Senior member of the Florida Finance Committee for Obama for America, as well as a member of the Women for Obama and Miami Dade County Barack Obama Steering Committee.
She is currently an elected member of Miami Dade County 's Democratic Party Executive Committee. She also serves as an appointed member for the Citizens Transportation Advisory Committee and is the Chairperson of the legislative committee. She was a finalist for the Coral Gables Chamber Rising Star Award . She is a past Board member of Arts Alive, Inc. and served as President of the William Mitchell College of Law Black Students Association while in law school.
